Yaremche

Once the city Yaremche was one of the areas of s. Dora, from 1911 it became independent society, from 1963 became a city.

After a folk legend, the name of the city comes from the name of the first settler Yarema Godovanets, which settled on a bank of the river Prut, "won a piece of land from the mountains and built his own house". Some scientists adhere to the idea, that Yaremche arose up at "yoke" - bends which are formed by the flow of the river Prut. Remembered in writing sources since 1788. Yaremche region includes such settlements as:

Dora - now it's the area of the city Yaremche. It was found in 1620 under the name of Sloboda-Dolishnya. The name originates from a walachian word "dora", "dorul". There are reasonings that "dora", is a settlement which arose up on the developed shred of earth, area recently cleared from the forest; or "dora" is newly-baked bread.

The Stone of Dovbush is a former settlement, attached in the complement of the city Yaremche. Adopted so from the name of picturesque micro object.
